12 Famous BFFs Giving Us All the Galentine's Day Feels

The most sacred time of year is upon us again, Galentine’s Day! If you haven’t heard about this fantastic female friendship holiday, (first of all congrats on your bold life choice of living under a rock) it takes place the day before Valentine’s Day and its sole purpose is to celebrate our real soul mates- aka our best friends.

We’re preparing you for Galentine’s Day by covering the most gal-spirational, famous BFFs! From on-screen pals to IRL besties and those who are lucky enough to be both, they’ve taught us so many great lessons about #AdultFriending.

Without further ado, here are the iconic friendships that are keeping the spirit of this holiday alive in the limelight:

On-Screen Galentines

Leslie & Ann

The friends who started it all!

Talk about some famous BFFs! Galentine’s Day wouldn’t exist without the beautiful, enduring friendship of Leslie Knope and Ann Perkins on Parks & Recreation. Let’s all pour one out for the poetic, noble land-mermaids in our lives. Shout out to the ladies who always go above and beyond for their friends.

Meredith & Cristina

The friend who reminds you that you’re the sun.

From good cries to dancing it out. No matter what happens in life, Meredith and Cristina of Grey’s Anatomy will always be there for each other. They are brilliant, badass besties and they also take the cake for Galentine’s Rule #1: ovaries before brovaries. Shout out to your person.

Samantha Jones & Literally Anyone (but obvs Carrie)

The friend who loves you unconditionally.

Can we get a friendship slow clap going for Samantha Jones? She is probably the least judgmental friend to ever grace our TV screens, and 14 years after SATC has ended, we are still living for it. For better or worse, she supports all Carrie’s antics with that knowing smile on her face. Shout out to the friend you can turn to when you know you’re in the wrong, but you need some love and acceptance anyway.

Serena & Blair

The friend that’s been through everything with you.

Serena and Blair have definitely had their ups and downs. They’ve been best friends for so long that they’re more like family, and they’ll never ever give each other up no matter what the other one does. Shout out to the ones who bring out the best in us… even though they put up with the worst in us. XOXO- Greetabl Girl

IRL Galentines

Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King

The friend who looks out for you for life.

Without a doubt- when we think iconic/famous BFFs, we all think about Oprah and Gayle. They just have the best moments together! From those amazing 80’s looks that prove they’re lifelong friends, to their road trips, and recently to Oprah making sure Gayle’s elbows were properly lotioned before the Golden Globes, they are just every goal possible. Shout out to the supportive, ride or die friends that take each other with them on the come up!

Eva Longoria & Victoria Beckham

The friend who keeps you looking amazing.

Soooo um, good news. It turns out you have more in common with FAB besties Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria than you think, as the pair cite their fave activity as sleepovers in PJ’s. Literally same. And Victoria was not only a bridesmaid in Eva’s 2016 wedding, she also designed the dress!! Shout out to the best friends who are always willing to lend a hand.

Beyoncé & Nicki Minaj

The friend you run the world with.

It only makes sense for the queens of pop (and the whole world in Bey’s case) & rap to bond over their mutual amazingness. Their collab song is rightfully called “Feeling Myself” because they both know they’re flawless- and everyone agrees. Shout out to the friend you always feel at home with, from #GlamSquad mode to eating-pizza-in-sweatpants mode and everything in between.

Amandla Stenberg & Rowan Blanchard

The friend that makes your world, and THE world, a better place.

Not only have Amandla and Rowan been friends for a long time, (how cute is that childhood pic?!) but they are both impressive women of action in their own right. In 2015, both actresses won “Feminist Celebrity of the Year” for speaking out about intersectional feminism and gender inequities. Idk about you, but I’m throwing my hands up to the Galentine’s Goddesses for these two!!! Shout out to the friends who empower each other through their own strength.

Best of Both Worlds

Amy Poehler & Tina Fey

The friend who makes you better.

Obvi Amy/Leslie is featured twice. She literally invented this holiday, for Galentine’s sake! And her boss-ass-comedy-queen-bestie-ship with Tiny Fey is nothing short of a Galentine’s dream. From starting out in improv together in Chicago, to making it big on SNL and creating hilarious movies together alongside their own books and TV shows, is there anything these two cannot do?! Answer: nope. Nothing. Shout out to the friends who share our passions and help us take them to the next level!

Issa Rae & Yvonne Orji

The friend who speaks the truth.

Both Issa and Yvonne are slaying life lately, and we are here for it! As if ‘Insecure’ wasn’t amazing enough, knowing that these two are genuine, caring friends in real life is just… too much. On screen, their characters can be a little too honest with each other sometimes, but there’s a love underneath that is deeper than the occasional tensions they face. And because of this, they reflect our IRL friendships better than most fictional duos. Shout out to the friend who will always build you up, but still tell you what you need to hear.

Abbi Jacobson & Ilana Glazer

The friend who makes you laugh harder than anyone.

Can we get a YAS QWEEN for Abbi & Ilana, the hilarious real life besties who brought us their on screen alter-egos in their show ‘Broad City’? Fun fact: when they first met through an improv group while at NYU, Abbi thought Ilana was Alia Shawkat, and would make a great comedic partner. Turns out she was right about that- just not about Ilana’s identity. Shout out to our creative besties who we vibe with for both work and play.

Maizie Williams & Sophie Turner

The friend who just… completes you.

Sisters in Game of Thrones and basically in real life, too, Mophie may be the cutest co-stars turned BFFs of all time. Word on the street is they immediately clicked upon meeting for the show. Which seems legit, because now they have matching tattoos commemorating the day they were cast. I’m not crying… you’re crying! Shout out to all the love at first sight friendships. <3

Go Forth & Galentine!

Alright ladies, hopefully all those feels were enough to get you sufficiently pumped for this amazing holiday. All that’s left to do now is tell all your BF4L chicks how much they mean to you.
