When Mother's Day is Hard

When Mother's Day is Hard

Dear Greetabl Community,

Brittany, Director of Marketing at Greetabl, here. One of the most amazing parts of my role at Greetabl is shaping our holiday campaigns. I LOVE celebrating all.the.things, so planning our Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and other seasonal campaigns gives me so much life. But as I started planning for Mother’s Day 2021, my heart and my mind were continuously drawn to the women in my life who find Mother’s Day really hard. I couldn’t shake the feeling that Greetabl had an opportunity to show up for women in a new and really important way this Mother’s Day by NOT focusing on Mother’s Day.

The CDC has a lot of statistics I could share with you about fertility challenges, but those statistics weren’t what inspired me. What inspired me were the women in my life and in the Greetabl community who are the face of those stats.

Every year, we give you the option to opt out of our Mother’s Day emails. And every year so many of you take us up on it. You write to us and tell us how much this small gesture means to you. You tell us your stories about IVF, trying to conceive, miscarriages, and strained relationships with your own mothers. We are so honored that you trust us with your stories and we want you to know that you are not alone and that we hear you. We’re still offering you the option to opt out of Mother’s Day emails, but we wanted to do something a little bit more this year to honor the 1 in 10 women who has struggled getting pregnant or staying pregnant. Your stories matter, and we’re here for you.

My sister is my best friend and one of the most important people in my life. Watching her long for the thing she wants most in this world – the thing she has wanted since childhood – is one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced. Each time her heart breaks anew in this long waiting-game, mine does too. One of my deepest desires is to find a way to make her journey toward motherhood easier. Every Mother’s Day I think about her and I know how hard the day is for her and other women like her who are still waiting (and waiting and waiting) for their dream of being a mom to come true. I want to do or say something that will make it easier – but what can you say? I’m always at a loss.

And that’s where this idea started. I thought, “What if there were a way for Greetabl to stand in the gap to help people be there for the women in their lives who find Mother’s Day really hard?”. I talked to Kristyn at the Fertility Tribe and shared this dream with her, and she immediately understood where my heart was at.

So, today, I am so proud and honored to unveil our Like a Warrior Mother’s Day collection. We have three different designs curated by Kristyn to help you connect with and support your friends, sisters, cousins, and other women in your life who are trying to conceive, have suffered the loss of a miscarriage, or still battling their way toward motherhood.

If you have feedback on the collection or how Greetabl can be there for you during the Mother’s Day season, my calendar is open! Let’s jump on a call, even if all you need is a listening ear. I may not have the right words to say, and I know I won’t have a solution – but I’m here for you every step of the way.
